For me, when I hear the word “100,” I know a milestone has been reached and it’s time to celebrate!
100 pennies? Yeah, now I have a dollar!
100 percent on a test? I’m going to give myself a pat on the back!
Another 100 years gone by? You bet we’ll amp up the New Years Eve celebration!
If I have the opportunity to turn 100 years old, I’ll be excited to receive a birthday card from the president!
The first 100 days are past? Time to celebrate what’s been accomplished!
That’s why I was so excited when I realized that I had a special “100” to celebrate of my very own. Since earning my sport plane pilot’s license in 2017, I have logged 100 hours of flight time. And that’s something to celebrate!
One hundred hours is a long time to devote to anything, let alone an interest outside of work and family. Yet it’s nice to know that it can be done.
A recent article in Entrepreneur magazine talks about how important it is to have a life outside of work, even for CEOs. It’s important for our productivity, our emotional well being and our relationships with family and friends. When I’m flying, I feel free from the pressures of everything back on Earth and I know that I have achieved a dream, something for myself.
For someone who works as an airline pilot, 100 hours is nothing. To me, it represents the realization of a dream that took hold when I first took a discovery flight in a sport plane. It wasn’t easy to do while running two businesses and a nonprofit organization, but I embrace that I am more than a CEO. I am a dreamer who can make her dreams come true. Even if you’re the CEO, you can too! And you should!
