It’s not unusual to feel a bit down, unhappy, or dissatisfied occasionally. Emotions shift often and are usually related to what is happening around us. If these types of emotions stick with you, though, perhaps it’s time to take a closer look at the cause and what can be done to change it.
In today’s world, many people are looking for ways to transform their lives, so they can live a more peaceful and joyful life surrounded by the people, places, and things that matter to them most. Before you sell everything and drive to a place where the cows are many, and the people are few, consider a softer, more manageable approach.
The place where you are—within your friends, family, work, and home—matters, and a series of small but impactful changes to your environment can give you the gift of transformation and change that you long for.
If you put a lot of pressure on yourself to look or act a certain way to fit in with current trends, but it’s not authentic to you, or it feels off, then let it go. Use journaling and meditation to discover who you want to be and, even more, who you are meant to be. Then plan how to pursue it.
You have so many options to choose from, and before you take a giant leap, go on some small micro-adventures. Chase what feels good to you and brings you happiness, freedom, fun, and, most of all, lets you feel alive again.
Maybe it means putting together a bucket list of places to go and things to do, both the big and the small. Climbing mountains or crossing streams, learning how to go camping or taking shelter dogs on walks, jumping out of an airplane, or going back to school to get that degree you always wanted.
Be creative in your pursuit, have a flexible imagination, and go discover the places and activities that are transformational for you. When you choose this and do it consistently, you will find that your enjoyment of life takes many forms, and you will find inspiration in the beauty of everything around you.
You may find that certain people in your life, those who held you back, fall away, and new ones take their place, and it won’t take much for you to set aside any negativity that creeps in. Even sitting on a hill, watching a beautiful sunset on a breezy day, is a gift just for you, to remind you of how far you have come.
